High School Summer Institutes: Application Instructions

Please complete all fields of this application. This is your formal application to the program. Be sure to use appropriate capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. This application should be completed by the student, not the parent or legal guardian. 

Once you begin this application you may not save it. There are four parts to this application:

  • Student Personal Information (i.e. mailing address, phone number, institute applying to)
  • High School Information (i.e. high school name, graduation year, GPA, disciplinary violations)
  • Parent/Legal Guardian Information (i.e. email address, phone number)
  • Two Short Essay Responses
    • What traits or abilities do you possess that would make you successful in a pre-college environment? (150-250 words)
    • Please list one goal you hope to achieve if selected to attend a Summer Experience at Washington University. (50-100 words)

After you click "Submit" you will be redirected to a webpage confirming receipt of your application and with instructions on how to submit your supplemental information including a transcript, teacher recommendation, and application fee. You can access this information here. An application is not considered complete until all supplemental information has been received.

A reminder that to be eligible for a High School Summer Institute you should:

  • Be a current freshman, sophomore, or junior in high school (graduating in 2022, 2021, or 2020).
  • Have an academic average of B+ (3.3/4.0) or better.
  • As an international student, provide proof of English ability.

Please note: If you need to make changes to your application after clicking submit, please contact our office at summerexperiences@wustl.edu. Do not resubmit a new application.

We review applications on a rolling basis. Qualified applicants until all spaces in a program are filled or until April 1. We strongly encourage you to apply early!

Clery Report: The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998

Washington University in St. Louis is committed to assisting all members of the University community in providing for their own safety and security. The annual security compliance document is available on the University Police web site at http://police.wustl.edu. The web site contains information regarding campus security and personal safety issues, including topics such as crime prevention, University Police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance to security on campus. The web site also contains crime statistics from the three previous calendar years for crime reported on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Washington University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus.
